A sculptural base formed by curved sheet-metal legs that come together as an oval pillar. A single bent sheet creates the seat at a carefully calibrated angle, seamlessly integrated into the base. A modern lounge chair defined by comfort and clarity of form. Every TUKKON CHAIR is laser-cut, bent, welded, and finished in our workshop in Germany.

Is a metal lounge chair comfortable?
The question comes reliably and deserves an answer instead of reassurance. Metal is hard, a chair is soft, so the assumption goes that you sit well in one and not in the other. The error in this calculation is one: it confuses what gives way with what supports.
An armchair answers the question of comfort with mass: lots of cushioning that somehow cushions every posture. TUKKON CHAIR answers them with a decision. It is designed for a single position, sitting reclined with your feet on the floor, as one would do when reading. The base determines this posture, the cushion absorbs the pressure at the support points and can therefore remain flat.
A lounge chair that can completely handle one posture does not have to accommodate anything; he holds. Therein lies the difference between softness and comfort, and it shows itself not in the first minute, but after an hour with a book, when no one has changed positions. Whether TUKKON CHAIR fulfills this cannot be said, just sitting.
Designer chair: how to recognize a design
A designer chair differs from a mass-produced chair less in appearance than in the order in which it was created. Mass-produced furniture starts with the parts that are available: round tubes in standard sizes, purchased seat shells, off-the-shelf screws. The design is based on them. When it comes to a one-off piece, the shape comes first and then we look for how it can be built.
The design of a chair is not only visible from the front. If you place it freely in the room, you can also see the transitions between the surfaces, the edges and the back. The shape from all directions counts for the overall impression.
In everyday life, an exclusive chair does not mean that it stands out, but rather that it can stand out from every angle. A lounge chair that you only want to show from the front is, strictly speaking, half a piece of furniture. Lounge chair or armchair: what the difference is
An armchair encloses, a lounge chair supports. That's the whole difference, and it has consequences for space. An armchair brings its volume with it; It is padded up to the armrests and needs its space even when no one is sitting in it. A lounge chair is more open and narrow. It shows what you're sitting on instead of hiding it.
When it comes to fancy chairs, there are two ways to compete. One works with color, pattern and unusual combinations of materials and immediately stands out. The other works with the silhouette and is only noticed at second glance, but again and again. TUKKON CHAIR takes the second approach. From a distance you can read a line, from close up a surface, and both remain interesting even if the chair has been in the same place for years.
The designs that have become classics almost all share this characteristic: a single idea to which they limit themselves and the abandonment of everything that does not support this idea. A chair that wants to be three things at once ages faster than one that does one thing entirely. However, whether a design passes this test only becomes clear after twenty years, and no manufacturer can claim this beforehand, including this one.
As a reading chair, in the dining room or in the bedroom
As a reading chair, the lounge chair stands next to a floor lamp and at a distance from the wall so that the rear view remains what it is. In the dining room it stands at the head end, where people sit for the longest time; it is not intended for the long sides. In the bedroom it takes on the role of an armchair on a surface area of 60 × 45 cm in brass and 61 × 45 cm in stainless steel, i.e. where there would be no space for an armchair.
Whether the proportion fits into a certain room can be clarified in advance: a photo of the location and the dimensions are sufficient; occasionally the answer is that another piece of furniture belongs there. There are five to six weeks between order and delivery, shipping costs nothing, and a piece in stock can be returned within 14 days.

Is TUKKON CHAIR a rocking chair?
No. The base stands firmly on the floor, without runners and without a rocking function; a rocking chair is not part of the program. TUKKON CHAIR is still intended to be a quiet reading chair, just without movement.
Can I choose the upholstery fabric?
There is no confirmed fabric selection published here yet. Please ask before ordering; once the options are confirmed, they will be added here.
Does it fit at a table as a dining chair?
Yes, especially as a single piece at the headboard. The dining tables are 75 cm high; The seat height of the chair will be stated upon request so that the combination can be checked in advance. It is not intended for continuous seating.
What surfaces is it available in?
In patinated brass and brushed stainless steel. Patinated brass changes over time and becomes lighter in frequently touched areas; Brushed stainless steel stays the same for years. If you want to add a second piece later, choose stainless steel.
Can I order two identical copies?
Two pieces can be ordered together. Handcrafted, patinated brass surfaces are not identical, however. If the pieces are intended as a pair, please discuss any particular wishes with us before ordering.
How do I care for the metal and upholstery?
The base needs a dry or slightly damp cloth, in the grinding direction for stainless steel. The upholstery is vacuumed and spot cleaned if necessary. Abrasives and solvents stay away from both parts.
How long does delivery take?
Five to six weeks lie between ordering and delivery, with free shipping. An in-stock piece can be returned within 14 days.
